Eddie from LXG during the Highlander (by the look on his face I'm guessing not winning...) |
So another Cancon is now over. As always had a blast, and spent slightly too much cash. Between the stalls and the trip down and back, my wallet I didn't stand a chance.
So to start with, my Armies. There were two Tourneys, 25pt Highlander on the first day, and a 50 pt Steamroller on the second and third. 50 point is not my strong point, I much prefer the 35 point games where the warcaster plays a bigger part in the game, and I guess this showed in my results.
Alamo Participation Game - Cancon has heaps of these. |
In saying that though I think Cygnar really has troubles in a highlander setting. They really rely on those solo's to help them go off and not having both arlan and a squire for example really caused my troubles. I think this is evidenced by the tourney results (http://www.rankingshq.com/public/tournamentprofile.aspx?TournamentId=2876) was ranked player 30 out of 54.
Steamroller I had no excuses. My 50pt game is always lackluster. I took Kraye and Kara Sloan. Kraye army was jack heavy and Kara of course had all models that can shoot.
Interesting in the Steamroller I won 3, lost 3. I played Trolls twice, Menoth Twice and Cygnar twice and won once against each faction, then lost the second game against that same faction.
Kara was a star performer, able to eliminate opponents forces at range but Kraye is just too damn fun to go without. If I had of taken Kara on day 2 in either of my games, I may have been able to pull out one or two more wins.
Anyway, If you are ever in Australia on the Australia Day weekend, Cancon is definitely worth a trip.
One of my Highlander Wins. Ecaine shooting the bejesus out of E Stryker. |
The point that a friend lost a game to Darius. Poor Sorscha... Both armies were well painted. |
Kraye facing off against 5 heavy Trolls. Needless to say, this doesn't end well for Kraye. |
